Job Description

Ameelio is looking for a Principal Engineer with extensive Ruby on Rails experience to lead the technical implementation of their Canvas-based product aimed at improving the lives of justice-impacted individuals, particularly those who are incarcerated. This role involves technical leadership, hands-on code contributions, and collaboration with product teams to deliver high-impact features while managing technical debt. Key responsibilities include leading the technical implementation, mentoring other engineers, collaborating with product teams to define and prioritize features, and integrating with Canvas LMS and other educational platforms. The ideal candidate should have strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails, experience with PostgreSQL, container technology like Docker, and a willingness to learn basic Kubernetes. Familiarity with Canvas LMS and experience in the EdTech or non-profit sector is preferred but not required.

Open to both US-based and international candidates, with a preference for those who can work with some overlap in US time zones.
